Local Towns and Villages

Horncastle

A country market town of great charm. Horncastle was originally the roman town of Banovallum; remains of the Roman wall can be seen in the local library.

Situated on the banks of the Rivers Waring and Bain, the town contains some very attractive buildings and is noted for its many antique shops.

Louth

Louth nestles on the eastern edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, and is justifiably called 'capital of the Wolds'.

The town is of red brick and pantile and is unusually compact with an intricate pattern of streets. Many splendid Georgian houses and a thriving market.

Louth Navigation Canal - restored and conserved, the towpath has been reinstated and provides pleasant walks. There is a small exhibition room and café.

Hubbards Hills - a superb area of naturally formed parkland which was given to the town at the beginning of the 20th century. The riverside setting makes for perfect walks and picnics.

Moggs Eye - (Huttoft Beach)

An unspoiled sandy beach with plenty of parking and dog friendly.  A jewel on the east coast.
